Alex & Charities
Alex and his support of charities & some
very good causes and environmental projects
If you are a new fan of Alex and yet have no idea why I'm calling him a "caring"
person above - well, it's mainly because of his support of organ donation and
other good causes - ranging from the fight against cancer and ALS,
to giving self-defense classes for women and donating the full proceeds to a
hospital, on to raising awareness and funds for organ donation. Most of these
charities and good causes are dedicated to fighting deadly diseases and to
His big heart and his support of charities and organ donation are among the many reasons why
his fans love him so
Examples of projects
and organisations supported by Alex...
Below, you find a selection of charitable projects,
charity organisations and great causes that Alex has supported over the years.

- Alex hosted a fundraising event for the environmental
Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii which aims at preserving the fragile
environment along the Hawaiian coastlines.
- He has supported the "R U OK?
Day" which aims at reducing the high suicide rate among Australians by
reaching out to others and asking them if they are o.k. - Of course, that
question may be asked not only by Australians and it can be asked on any day of
the year. Just saying... ;-)
Here's a video clip of Alex promoting this special day:
- When he played a vampire on "Moonlight", he asked fans
to donate blood for the Red Cross - and a fan mentionned that Alex actually
participated in at least one blood drive himself, where she met him.
Here's a video clip of him with his message:
you to give blood
- Alex has attended fundraising events for the fight against cancer.
Here's a video clip of a speech he held at the Relay for Life event -
- Alex is also supporting the fight against
the fatal disease ALS:
The disease has affected his family on a very personal level since his
mother-in-law died from ALS. He, his family and his colleagues from "Hawaii
Five-0" support the ALS Association.

- Women's self-defense classes benefitting the
Kapi`olani Medical Center for Women and Children:
Alex and his buddy Egan Inoue have repeatedly given women's self-defense
classes and the proceeds have gone fully to the a.m. hospital. The classes
have been an awesome experience for fans attending them because they got to
meet Alex in person and learn useful self-defense tricks from him and Egan.

- When Alex played the role of the cardiothoracic
surgeon Dr. Yablonski in the medical series "Three Rivers" about a fictional
transplant hospital, he became an ambassador for the
America' organization. He has been promoting
organ donation and has managed to inspire his fans to join him in raising awareness of the importance of organ donation
and in supporting charities in the field of organ donation.
He is also a spokesperson for the Taylor's Gift Foundation which was
set up by the family of Taylor - a girl who died in a skiing accident when she
was only 13 years old but left behind the greatest gift of all - a new or
better life for 5 persons to whom she donated organs. The foundation helps
individuals and families affected by organ donation and it promotes organ
donation to increase organ donor registrations and, thus, to help save lives
like organ donor Taylor.
Alex O'Loughlin Fans for Organ Donation group (previously known as "AOL Fans for
Donate Life") regularly organizes campaigns to raise
awareness and funds for organ donation.
Below, you find some of the campaigns that I organized on behalf of the group
- long before I became head of the group and admin of our Facebook page when
Claire Eyles decided to hand over full responsibility to me in Feb. 2017:
